MTG Primordial (decks available to borrow)

August 25 15:00 19:00

Primordial is a format where rares are rare, uncommons are uncommon, commons are common.

Your deck can only contain cards from the Bloomburrow set, we intend to change this to “Standard” with the release of Duskmourn.

Start 3pm

Entry Fee FREE

Prizes; We will be using the older Standard Showdown lands for the winner, everyone else will get a promo card.

Deck rules:
A Primordial deck has a minimum deck size of 40 cards, all cards come from the same set (Bloomburrow), and is composed of:
Exactly 2 rare cards, with no more than 1 of any rare with a particular English name
Exactly 6 uncommon cards, with no more than 2 of any uncommon with a particular English name
Any number of common cards, with no more than 4 of any common with a particular English name
Any number of basic lands

Sideboard rules:
A Primordial sideboard may contain no more than 10 cards, all from the same set as the deck. The 1 of any rare, 2 of any uncommon, and 4 of any common limits apply to the combined deck and sideboard.

FAQ
Are Bonus Sheets legal? No
Why not? It’s not in the spirit of the format that certain sets can benefit from bonus sheets of powerful cards from other editions (in addition to the reprints already included in the sets themselves).

Are reprints allowed? Yes.

Can I play more than 40 cards in my deck? Yes.

Do I have to play 2 rare and 6 uncommon cards? Yes.

Can I play 100 cards saying “A deck can have any number of cards named <card name>”? Yes.
What happens if this card turns out to be a rare, or an uncommon (that can only be played in limited numbers)? Playing 100 copies of the same uncommon will simply prevent you from playing other uncommon, because you have reached the 6 limit.
Can I play non basic lands? Yes, if there are any in the set you’ve chosen. These lands will occupy rare, uncommon or common slots, depending on their rarity.

Can I put rare or uncommon cards in my sideboard? Yes, but keep in mind that your deck must always have 2 rare cards and 6 uncommon cards, pre or post siding (otherwise, it’s no longer a Primordial deck).
